Extensionist artisan and Co-Founder of Great Lengths' Platinum Salon 'M Hair' in Nottingham, James Henderson, reveals his latest news and trend predications for 2015...
What have you been working on over the last twelve months?
2014 was a huge year for us - demand for hair extensions has been unprecedented! Our relationship with Great Lengths has gone from strength to strength and the popularity of M Hair has continued to grow - so much so that we have had to double the number of extension technicians within the salon.
Are there any extensions services that are becoming increasingly popular with your clients - Men-hancements®? Fashion Shades?
We have seen a large rise in the number of more mature clients coming to us for enhancements, which add volume to finer hair. This is due to us re-educating clients at consultation stage and breaking down the barriers of the stereotypical short-to-long transformation that many people associate with hair extensions.
What do you think are going to be the key hair trends for 2015?
My prediction for 2015 follows on from the huge trends of balayage and ombre - I think that that there will continue to be huge demand from clients wanting to experiment with colour, and extensions are a great way to achieve on-trend colour .
You've recently been awarded Great Lengths platinum salon status. What does this mean to you and the salon team?
All of the team at M Hair is extremely proud to be awarded the prestigious Great Lengths Platinum status. We were one of the first salons in the UK to introduce hair extensions over twenty-five years ago when they were relatively unheard of. We have thoroughly enjoyed our journey with extensions over the years and experimented with many brands and techniques until we began our relationship with Great Lengths, just 18 months ago.
Platinum salon status gives us great recognition for our commitment and experience in the industry, and is a great platform for our plans in 2015 - watch this space!
